Creative Strategy & Better Ideas
How to clarify ideas, sharpen messages and turn vague concepts into work with an actual purpose.
Field Notes
A growing collection of practical advice, honest experiments and mildly chaotic observations about creativity, content, branding, AI and building things on the internet.
Some notes will help you make better work.
Some will show you what I am currently trying.
Some may simply confirm that opening another Canva tab was not the solution.

Reports from somewhere between an idea and a deadline
Field Notes is where I document the useful parts of figuring things out.
Margin note: written between tabs, not from a mountaintop.
01The lessons that worked.
02The experiments that did not.
03The tools worth keeping.
04The ideas that grew legs.
05And the occasional creative spiral that somehow became a content strategy.
No pretending I have discovered the single correct way to build a business, make content or organise a human brain.
Just honest notes from someone doing the work, testing the tools and reporting back.
Current areas of investigation
Field Notes will cover the ideas, tools and experiments involved in making better creative work—and figuring out how to build something useful from it.
How to clarify ideas, sharpen messages and turn vague concepts into work with an actual purpose.
Hooks, messaging, content systems, brand voice and ways to sound like a person rather than a marketing template.
Prompts, workflows, image and video experiments, useful tools and the occasional rescue mission after AI becomes suspiciously enthusiastic.
Practical design improvements, creative direction, Canva workflows and crimes against visual hierarchy.
Honest notes about services, digital products, personal branding and turning creative skills into income.
For multi-passionate people with too many projects, several possible futures and a complicated relationship with finishing things.
Recurring transmissions
These recurring series will give Field Notes a recognisable structure while leaving room for creative detours.
Tools, prompts, resources and ideas that are genuinely worth bookmarking.
No 4,000-word introduction before revealing the useful part.
Honest lessons from trying something before I felt entirely qualified, organised or emotionally prepared.
Behind-the-scenes reports on building Rocket & Bloom, testing income ideas and discovering which plans survive contact with reality.
Ideas, encouragement and practical help for people whose brains keep creating new projects before the previous ones have been responsibly concluded.
Before-and-after experiments showing where AI helped, where it went rogue and what needed a human brain.
Taking one worthwhile thought and turning it into a useful, connected content ecosystem without repeating the exact same sentence five times.
Field Note 000 — Preparing the archive
I am currently building the first collection rather than filling this page with generic articles called things like:
“Ten Ways to Unlock Your Creative Potential in Today’s Digital Landscape.”
Nobody needs that.
The first Field Notes will focus on practical ideas, real experiments and things I have actually learned while creating, marketing, freelancing and building Rocket & Bloom.
The archive may be small at first.
It will not be filled with decorative internet fog merely to make the grid look occupied.
Issue schedule · in preparation
No publication dates yet. When there is something worth sending, it gets sent.
Transmission guidelines
Field Notes will usually give you at least one of these:
01A practical idea you can use
02A tool worth investigating
03A clearer way to think about something
04A real example or transformation
05An honest lesson from an experiment
06The comforting knowledge that someone else also has too many tabs open
The goal is not to publish constantly.
The goal is to publish something worth reading.
The future archive
Once the first Field Notes are published, this section will become the main searchable archive.
